How To Choose Cafe Stools

tolsFinding the right bar stools for your café or restaurant isn’t as easy a task as choosing stools for your home and as such there are several points to consider. For example you need to have in mind what height, colour, and style you are looking for, as well as its function. Let’s take a look at the main points in more detail:

Comfort – If you’re going all out for customer comfort then you might want to choose a bar stool that has a padded seat and a back rest to help the customer’s posture. If a person is likely to be sitting for some time then make sure the stool also has a built in foot rest so that legs aren’t left dangling.

Serviceability – If your café has a high customer footfall then you’ll need to consider stools that are durable and strong. We stock a wide range of AFRDI tested furniture which is a sure indication that your stools can withstand all the daily rigours that café life entails. At the very least take care to only purchase stools which are designed for commercial use as any other type of stool is likely to need replacing a few months down the line.

Style – Stools come in a wide range of styles and in order to choose what’s right for you, it’s a good idea to look at your clientele as well as your décor. If your café has an industrial theme then our replica Tolix stools or our Helen stools which are made from powder coated steel fit the bill nicely. With a wide choice of colours and heights, you’re sure to find just what you need. For more traditional cafes with a classic theme then you might be interested in our ladder back stools which also have a padded seat, or our cross back Bentwood stool which is stylish and elegant.

Size – Stools often come in a variety of heights so it’s important to choose a height which allows for a customer’s knees to clear the counter. As a guideline allow for 9 to 13 inches between the top of the stool and the table top. Counter stools are designed to be paired with standard counter heights which are usually 36 inches. Therefore a counter stool should be between 24 and 26 inches in height. Bar stools are typically 29 to 31 inches tall when measuring from the floor to the seat and designed to be paired with a countertop which is 41 to 43 inches high when measured from the floor.

How many – It’s important to determine the areas where you will be using bar stools and to measure carefully so that you know which height of stools and how many you need for various areas.

We’ve got a wide range of bar stools made from both wood and powder coated steel in a fantastic assortment of colours and styles. Why not browse our online store of pop along to our Brendale Showroom if you’re in the area. If you need any further information then don’t hesitate to call us on 07 3205 1616.

Introducing The Drop Chair To Cafe Furniture Brisbane

drop chair sandAt Cafe Furniture Brisbane we’re proud to offer for sale this contemporary looking drop chair in a sand colour. It’s the kind of chair that makes you smile. It’s the small chair with a big personality; it’s a sculpture using a simple pure form. All of these things can be used to describe it, but where did the idea for such a surprising chair come from?

Surprisingly although it looks, cool, contemporary and of the moment, the original design is 57 years old. Back in 1958 Danish designer Arne Jacobsen was given the task of designing furniture for the famous Raddison Blue Hotel in Copenhagen. Along with the swan and the egg chairs he also designed the drop chair – so called because of it’s magnificent tear-drop shape. However Jacobsen only ever designed them in limited numbers and they were made exclusively for the hotel. Until recently, that was the only place that you could find the magnificent drop chair

Fast forward 50 years and Jacobsen’s grandson, also a designer, set himself a project to resurrect the original design, by recreating it. However instead of wood, he and his team chose plastic as their material of choice. They borrowed an original drop chair from the Raddison Hotel and set about examining it so that they could create the exacting gorgeous curves and tear-drop shape. Finally after much work the new version was unveiled to deliver a chair that was in keeping with the original design but giving off a fresh and vibrant twist.

Now the chair comes in a wide variety of colours to really make your cafe, restaurant, or bistro stand out from the crowd. With a choice of chrome or powder coated legs and a tough resign body the drop (as it’s known) doesn’t just look good, it’s incredibly functional too, so it’s ideal for the stresses and strains of any busy cafe.

To get your hands on this fabulous replica design in sand colour you’ll need to get in quick. It’s proving a popular seller and probably won’t hang around for long.
