Finding the right bar stools for your café or restaurant isn’t as easy a task as choosing stools for your home and as such there are several points to consider. For example you need to have in mind what height, colour, and style you are looking for, as well as its function. Let’s take a look at the main points in more detail:
Comfort – If you’re going all out for customer comfort then you might want to choose a bar stool that has a padded seat and a back rest to help the customer’s posture. If a person is likely to be sitting for some time then make sure the stool also has a built in foot rest so that legs aren’t left dangling.
Serviceability – If your café has a high customer footfall then you’ll need to consider stools that are durable and strong. We stock a wide range of AFRDI tested furniture which is a sure indication that your stools can withstand all the daily rigours that café life entails. At the very least take care to only purchase stools which are designed for commercial use as any other type of stool is likely to need replacing a few months down the line.
Style – Stools come in a wide range of styles and in order to choose what’s right for you, it’s a good idea to look at your clientele as well as your décor. If your café has an industrial theme then our replica Tolix stools or our Helen stools which are made from powder coated steel fit the bill nicely. With a wide choice of colours and heights, you’re sure to find just what you need. For more traditional cafes with a classic theme then you might be interested in our ladder back stools which also have a padded seat, or our cross back Bentwood stool which is stylish and elegant.
Size – Stools often come in a variety of heights so it’s important to choose a height which allows for a customer’s knees to clear the counter. As a guideline allow for 9 to 13 inches between the top of the stool and the table top. Counter stools are designed to be paired with standard counter heights which are usually 36 inches. Therefore a counter stool should be between 24 and 26 inches in height. Bar stools are typically 29 to 31 inches tall when measuring from the floor to the seat and designed to be paired with a countertop which is 41 to 43 inches high when measured from the floor.
How many – It’s important to determine the areas where you will be using bar stools and to measure carefully so that you know which height of stools and how many you need for various areas.
